When you have the right tools as a business owner, it can be the game-changer for your success. In this blog post I am going to offer you a highly valuable tool that focuses on one of the critical fundamentals – creating a compelling message. Using this tool may be one of your most valuable to learn how to use.

Imagine a real estate agent who is about to attend a networking event filled with eager real estate investors. These investors are on the hunt for prime real estate deals, and the way the real estate agent responds to a simple question can make or break their business.

The agent is approached by someone and is asked, “What do you do?” If the agent’s answer is a mundane “I sell real estate,” the result will likely be disinterest and lost opportunities. Investors and potential homeowners alike just might be looking for the nearest exit.

Now, picture a different scenario. The real estate agent responds with positive energy and enthusiasm: “I help savvy real estate investors take full advantage of the current drop in real estate values by showing them how to acquire multimillion-dollar homes for no money down and add millions to their net worth overnight.” This response captures the investor’s attention, leaving them eager to learn more.

Or, let’s say the agent encounters someone looking to buy a new home. When asked about their profession, the real estate agent confidently declares, “I help people buy a home larger than they thought they could afford!” Such a response is bound to pique the individual’s curiosity, perhaps even leading them to engage agent for their next home purchase.

You likely know that these concise, powerful responses are known as elevator pitches, and they hold immense potential. Without these, you are leaving significant opportunities on the table.

Now, I’m going to use a statement I often use when I am talking to people when they ask me what I do. From this example I’ll build a template that will help you craft your own 10-Second Elevator Pitch. I acquired this template some time ago from a coaching support group I belong to and have permission to share with you. So, let’s get into helping guide you in crafting your compelling messages.

Here’s the statement I often use:
“I help frustrated small business owners who feel like they are running an adult day care more than a business who want to learn the process for turning their employees into leaders who are aligned with them, and care about the success of the business as much the owner does.”

There are 6 components to this elevator pitch.

ONE
(I / We) (action verb) – “I help…”
You can use help, guide, teach, review, provide, consult with, present, aid, assist, support, grant, give, award, evaluate, assess, etc.

TWO
(negative emotions being experienced)
– “…frustrated…who feel like they are running an adult day care more than a business…”
You can also use furious, overwhelmed, clueless, demanding, frightened, desperate, struggling, angry, concerned, worried, etc.

THREE
(ideal client description) – “…small business owners…”
You would use any specific identifier for your ideal customer, patient, or client, such as dog lovers, young adults, chronic pain sufferers, overweight men, homeowners, business owners, brides-to-be, new mothers, etc.

FOUR
who want to (what they want) – “…who want to turn their employees into leaders…”
You describe what your customers, clients, or patients want, such as increasing their profits, finding an honest plumber, purchasing that perfect diamond, finding the relief they need, finding the best deal, etc.

FIVE
(solution) – “…learn the process…”
You offer what the customer, client, or patient gains, such as discovering a process, learning a fast and easy way, creating the perfect solution, uncovering the best method, determining the number one reason, realizing the best course of action, finding the dramatic solution, locating the best deal, positioning themselves, placing themselves first, finding out everything they need to know, etc.

SIX
to / so that they can (list 3 benefits) – “…for turning their employees into leaders who are aligned with them, and care about the success of the business as much the owner does.”
You list the benefits like living a pain free life, building the business of their dreams, finally giving the perfect gift, feeling they’re getting the most value for the money they pay, paying the lowest price, receiving the highest value, obtaining the best guarantee, receiving award-winning service, receiving the highest level of expertise at the lowest possible price, etc.

When you develop a compelling message that you can use in a brief 10-15 second introduction, you are empowered to stand out in the crowd. The immediate results will be visible – increased revenue and profits.

Having this critical tool can be the catalyst for your business success. If you want help crafting your message, or would like me to evaluate one you have already created, send me a message and I will gladly offer you a complimentary coaching session to help you out! 💼🎯
